Virtual Studio Visit: Judy Thomas

Thursday, September 22nd 5pm

Judy Thomas creates lyrical works that explore the formal elements of color, line and form while revisiting 20th century abstraction through a 21st century lens. Underlying the playful nature of her work is a broader investigation into theories of chaos and chance.

Thomas works across multiple modes of expression – drawing, painting and sculptural installation. Her work has been shown at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Brandeis University, Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, as well as numerous galleries and public spaces in the U.S. and abroad. Thomas won a 2015 Individual Artist Commission grant from Arts Mid-Hudson for her community responsive piece MATRIX:RENEWAL. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Time Out New York, the Detroit News, Huffington Post, Mid-Hudson Times and Times Herald Record. She lives and works in Newburgh, New York.
