Night Song

Dear Friends of the Arts,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for “Night Song,” Orange County Arts Council’s Annual Gala, The Art Affair. Our gala will be held on Thursday, November 4th, 6pm-10pm at West Hills Country Club in Middletown, NY.

All proceeds from The Art Affair directly support programs and cultural events such as Hudson Valley Creative Impact, The Student Arts Showcase, Arts Outreach initiatives, and Community Arts Grants. We are only able to provide these programs and cultural events with your generosity.

This year, our creative gala committee presents Night Song, a magical evening celebration of this year’s stellar honorees.

Parking: On Site and valet

Dress Code: Evening attire, fantastical accessories and garments encouraged

Covid-19 Safety: We request that those attending without vaccination wear a mask. Night Song is hosted in a safe, ventilated and heated outdoor ballroom.

Night Song Performances and Honoree Announcements: 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm

Night Song features inspirational musical voices of the night and an immersive fantasy wonderland curated by Ed Manner. As you enter the Night Song event, you will be drawn through a performative based event and transported into the artistically designed world of Night Song.

This is not your typical gala!

“Night Song” will be a unique artistic experience, unlike a typical gala. Attendees will enter into an ethereal world of dreams as created by artist Ed Manner. Fantastical works of art and atmospheric music will fill the space, inviting guests to wander and become part of the experience. Songs of the night and performances are choreographed by Ralph M’Vore. Honorees will be celebrated for their achievements and contributions to Orange County’s diverse artistic community. Refreshments, including wine and beer, will be served. A silent auction and raffle will add to the intrigue of the evening. This is also a free-form event; guests are welcome to explore and enjoy “Night Song” for as long as they please.

The Orange County Arts Council will provide the honoree recognition ceremony virtually on October 15th and send the program directly to your email. If you can not attend in-person event on November 4th, tickets by donation for the virtual program only are available upon checkout.

Announcing the 2021 Honorees:

Martin Dominguez Ball is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, filmmaker, musician and educator. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Martin Dominguez Ball moved to New York in the mid-1980s. He is a multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in graphic design and a MFA in interdisciplinary arts. A prolific creator, Martin’s paintings, drawings and sculptures have been well received in galleries in New York City and beyond. Additionally, he is a a filmmaker, musician, the founder of O Street Design, and a professor at Fordham University and St. John’s University. Martin has been influential in creating cultural happenings and awareness throughout our region. In addition to being one of the leaders who developed Hudson Valley Film Festival, Martin has been pivotal in facilitating programs such as “Artists Conversation with Industry”,  story telling programs, and a key teacher with the Jarrett Markel Creativity Bootcamp among other initiatives.
 
The Orange County New York Arts Council has recognized The Newburgh Free Library’s Harriet Tubman Committee as a champion of the arts and has selected to honor library director Mary Lou Carolan and the rest of the Newburgh Free Library’s Harriet Tubman Committee at its 2021 Annual Gala – The Art Affair.
Harriet Tubman Journey to Freedom was chosen for this award for its contribution to the arts and also for making a difference with enthusiasm and dedication to the arts community of Orange County. During a challenging time in Newburgh and elsewhere, the Harriet Tubman committee strove to create a series of enlightening, inspiring and unifying events surrounding the arrival and temporary exhibition of Wesley Wofford’s Harriet Tubman sculpture.
Summer Crockett Moore is an award-winning actress/producer and a Managing Partner and founding member of Choice Films Inc. and Choice Theatricals. As a producer, she has helmed award-winning independent feature length and short films, Off-Broadway and Regional theater productions, and chaired an annual Celebrity Awards Gala Saluting NY Theatre and Film. Additionally, Summer served as a Showrunner and Line Producer for the upcoming television series Big Dogs. Feature Film projects include: Trick (2019), The Scottish Play (2019), Beauty Mark (2018), Above All Things (2016), After the Sun Fell (2017), Lez Bomb (2018), Lost Cat Corona (2016), Dead Sound (2019), Junction (2013), Heather (2017), Wholly Broken (2017). Short Films include: Trust Me I’m A Lifeguard, These Things We Hold, Mired, Symposium, A Younger Man.  TV Projects: Big Dogs (2020), Vevo’s One Night Only (2016). Development projects include: Visiting Day, Things We Hold, American Stare, Miss Liberty, Private Woods and Best Death Ever. Theatre projects include the Off-Broadway world premieres of Scrambled Eggs, Reading Under the Influence, Stain, In the Daylight, and Tune In, as well as revivals of Playing with Fire and Five Women Wearing The Same Dress, and the regional / world premiere of the new plays, Between the Lines, and American Stare.
Tony Glazer is an award-winning writer/director/producer and a Managing Partner of Choice Films Inc. and Choice Theatricals. Tony’s plays have been produced in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, England and Canada. His feature film credits include Dead Sound (Producer/Director) The Winter House (Producer) Lost Cat Corona (Producer), After the Sun Fell (Producer/Director) and Junction, which he wrote, directed, and which won 17 major film festival awards around the country before a national and international theatrical release (int’l title Hostage). Tony was an Executive Producer, Showrunner and Co-Writer on the television series, Big Dogs.   Tony received his BFA in Acting from Boston University and studied acting with Maggie Flanigan.
