Brian Higbee makes paintings about politics, the politics of inflicting violence and brutality on innocent people. He takes a critical view of painting and how it has functioned historically as a glorification and a commemoration for the victors of war. For Brian, painting is also about the pleasure of seeing, the process of experiencing painting as an intimate and tactile object.
