This 1839 engraving by William Bartlett depicts the city of Albany which, since the completion of the Erie Canal in 1825, had become a major industrial center. This antique engraving by William Bartlett from 1839 depicts the American Picturesque scenery at Lake George, a famed spot for Hudson River School artists like Thomas Cole and Asher Durand. The image superimposed by the artist is taken from abolitionist John G.
